Das einstmals namenlose Projekt war unter no-name-yet.com beheimatet und hatte mit Ubuntu 4.10 "Warty Warthog" seine erste Finalversion veröffentlicht.
Diese neue Version ist die erste, die den Zusatz LTS für "Long-Term-Support" trägt, weil sie drei Jahre auf dem Desktop und fünf Jahre auf dem Server unterstützt werden soll.
The alternate install CD allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Ubuntu. It provides for the following situations:
- creating pre-configured OEM systems;
- Ubuntu Live/Install AMD64
- setting up automated deployments;
- upgrading from older installations without network access;
- LVM and/or RAID partitioning;
- installs on systems with less than about 192MB of RAM.
