Debian GNU/Linux ist ein freies Betriebssystem, das mittlerweile insgesamt elf
Prozessorarchitekturen unterstützt, die Desktop-Umgebungen KDE und GNOME sowie
kryptografische Software enthält, kompatibel mit Version 2.2 des FHS ist und
Software unterstützt, die für das LSB entwickelt wurde. Mit der Aufnahme der
Architekturen IA-64 (ia64), HP PA-RISC (hppa), MIPS (mips, mipsel), und S/390
(s390) unterstützt Debian GNU/Linux jetzt insgesamt elf Architekturen. Das System
läuft auf Computern von Palmtops bis zu Supercomputern und nahezu allem dazwischen,
inklusive der aktuellen Generation von 64-Bit-Maschinen.
